Their beloved Bunnahabhain - which means "mouth of the river" in Gaelic. as it stands at the mouth of the Margadale Spring on the shores of the Sound of Islay.
Born in 1883, they received their supplies by boat and send the seafarers back to the mainland with casks of the good stuff.
Closed in 1930 due to the aftermath of the Great War but reopened 7 years later.
In 1960 one of the biggest changes ever occurred; a new road was built. Now Bunnahabhain has a second lifeline and supplies could reach them by land.
1963; a second pair of Pot Stills were installed to increase the production capacity. With the introduction of te classic 12 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky to the world in 1979.
In 2006, 3 years after being purchased by Burn Stewart Distillers they restyled their core range of whiskies.
