Gouden Carolus

Distilled at "Het Anker" by the Gouden Carolus distillery "De Molenberg".

They started distilling in 2010, so their first single malt was released in 2013 after a 3 years maturation.

From 2014 they started with annually limited anniversary edition bottlings. Every release of them being an experimental release.

The 2014, 2015 and 2016 anniversary editions are sold out but if you would like to have a taste... take a look in our "Sample sets" and you'd be surprised what we have to offer.

Blaasveld Broek

Gouden Carolus Single Malt with a touch of peat

Distilled in the village called Blaasveld close to the natural reserve called "Blaasveld Broek". In this wetland people started to cut peat, leading to the arteficial ponds that still remain. The first peated Belgian single malt to be distilled in classic pot stills.

This whisky will enter the Molenberg's core range.

Matured in combination of first-fill bourbon and Anker casks (Portuguese STR casks).

46% - 50cl

Nose: Subtle wood smoke, sweet apples and peacheswith a hint of vanilla, smouldering pinewood. Balanced nose.

Palate: Less convincing, sweet and round at first, more apples and fruit than smoke, herbal honey, with a spirity rough evolution

Finish: Short, with barley sweetness
